Week 3

I am on my way of becoming 3 weeks old, that will be on Monday. But here is some more photos of me "thinking" and sometimes sleeping. You will also see me with my Dad.

Christmas 2008

On the 25th of December we celebrated the birth of Jesus Christ our Saviour the Son of God. We opened gifts & had Christmas lunch, everybody just loves Ganny's cooking. My cousin Enya was opening the presents for me and Kendra because we were otherwise occupied on somebodies lap. Maybe I can have some tongue and gammon next year?

2 weeks old

Another week has gone past and I am now 2 weeks old. Life is so good when you are growing up. My mom and dad is thanking Jesus for me every night, I am so blessed. My nights have been quiet, only mom and dads snoring sometimes keeps me awake. I wonder if they need a nappy change during the night?

1 week old

I am officially 1 week old everyone - time flies when you are having fun hey? I already know how to get what I want with just one burst of lung power. I got that from my mom.

Day 7 - Erin

Today is the 7th day with my parents, granny and grandpa. I am now one week old. In this photo I mistakenly took my moms finger for a nipple. Did not taste that nice. I won't make that mistake again, but that is how you learn?

Day 6 - Erin

My 6th day in the wide open world. My dad keeps on flashing a light, they say something about taking photos. Well here is one of them.

Day 5 - Erin

Uncle Billy and Auntie Jenny came to visit today. Uncle Billy said a prayer and asked Jesus to bless and to keep us as a family. They are nice people mommy said when they left. I agree with her. I sleep a lot during the day because I have to be at full strength at night.

Day 4 - Still Erin

I am now a full 4days old and in dog years that is already a month old. Well I am getting lots of love, hugs, kisses and ooh's and aah's from everybody that visits as well as from my parents. Dad went to work today he said something about loose ends....?

Day 3 - Erin's Diary

Day 3 and we (Mommy and myself) are ready to go home. We had to wait for Pediatricians and Doctors to give the "all OK". Well they were happy and we left the hospital around 2pm and arrived whilst Granny Jackie and Grandpa Lenny waiting for us. Grandpa took this photo with Daddy's camera. I am the one in the middle with mom and dad. We received so many gifts and here I am posing with a gift from the Hollard Edcon Insurance team.

Day 2

Well we have survived the 1st day and they are correct when they say that baby don't just break or fall apart. We just love her and ask God to bless her every day and every minute. And here she is on day 2.

D-day Monday 8 December 2008

Well the day finally arrived and yes Erin Jaida Marx arrived by C-section at 10:05am, weighing in at 3.1kg and 50cm tall. She is the apple of her parents eyes. Assisting the Doctor was Dr. A Marx himself.

10th Scan

The 4 Dec 2008 was the 10 scan. Now it is clear that we are going to have this baby on Monday the 8 Dec 2008. Whooha!

9th Scan

For this scan we went on the 27 Nov 2008. Dr. now have a loan Toshiba machine while they (insurance) decide if they are going to replace the old Siemans.

8 th Scan

On the 20 Nov 2008 we went for another scan. The doctors ultrasound machine was struck by lighting so no photos and no video. But everything is fine with our baby.

2010 Soccer Mascot

While I browsed through the NASREC motor show I managed to take a picture of the 2010 South African Soccer World Cup Mascot at the Hyandai stand. Not sure what type of leopard it is ? Not one that resembles the ones you get in the wild, maybe this leopard is changing its spots? The official mascot has been designed and produced exclusively in the host country. The name is a composition of ‘ZA’, standing for South Africa, and ‘kumi’ translating into ‘10’ in various languages across Africa. So his name is "Zakumi"

Soccer City Construction

I drove past the old FNB stadium next to NASREC and could not help but to take this photo of the 2010 Soccer World Cup preparations in JHB. Laduma !

JIMS (JHB International Motor Show)

The JIMS opened on Saturday the 1 November 2008 at NASREC just next Soccer City (FNB Stadium). What a day ! I went with my friend Bennie and we were drooling over some of the cars.

Our 7th scan

On the 30 of October 2008 we went for the 7th scan. Is that a smile where the arrow is showing? Hey daddy I can hear your voice even while this auntie is shining a light in my eye.

Our 6th scan

Here we went on the 9th of Oct 2008 for another scan. God is good and our baby girl is blessed with excellent growth again. You can now see the cheeks, eyes & nose.

Our 5th scan

We went for the 5th scan on the 11 Sep 2008. Anton says she now looks like the mother, cute and pretty.

Our 4th scan

We went on the 12 Aug 08 for our 4th scan. Here you can see her feet together on the scan.

Our 3rd scan

We went for our 3rd scan on the 15th of July 2008. And can safely now say that it is a girl! Anton says she is as cute as her dad....

Our 2nd scan

On 17 June 2008 we went for our 2nd scan. And there you have it a small little person perfected by God. Our little one might be a "girl" but the next scan will reveal some more detail. Doctor was very happy with the nose bone as clearly seen in the photo.

Our 1st scan

On the 9 May 2008 we went for our 1st baby ultrasound. And yes it is confirmed there are a fetus growing and is 6 weeks and 6 days old. It is only 8.7mm in length and it already has a heartbeat of 116 bpm. This is truly a miracle. The slight apprehension and excitement is almost overwhelming. I am not sure what to think. Things that cross my mind is that I am happy, which room do we renovate, what is his/her name going to be, what sex could it be, will I be a good parent, what if something goes wrong, what security concerns are there, which pre and primary school, have we saved enough, how will I read the signs, what will he or she look like, how will we know that we are doing a good job, what illnesses do they get, do we move to a bigger house, what stimulation should we think about? This is very strange having all these questions and concerns after you’ve just seen God’s creation. And some people say that we were created by the “big bang”? We would probably go out in a big bang.

Well God is in charge and we will take His queue.

Something is coming.....

Yeah you guessed right we have someone coming that has both our DNA. We are having a baby !

Golden Gate National Park

Anton decided to take us to the tranquil retreat of the Mountains near Clarens. We also just bought a new camera so we have thousands of photos that we will probably need to get another hard drive for.

There were also signs of something developing somewhere. Clue : 1 month so far......

We drove, walked, ate, shopped, strolled, joked, met people, watched birds and relaxed the entire weekend.

Farm Visit March 2008

We had another chance to visit my dad just before his birthday which is on 30 March. We would not have had another chance.

We also welcomed a new lamb that morning. Whilst the mother was not happy to share we managed to get Sanchia to hold the newborn for a little while. My dad never heard the sheep, they come to him when he calls them.

Wow this place just makes you realise how rushed life is in the city.

We visit my dad

For the 1st time in I dont know in how many years, we managed to visit my dad on the farm during the December/January holiday season. Well fun was had by everyone and we got a well earned rest.

We had to now and then catch my dad with action photos otherwise you will not get any.

Christmas 2007 Break

Now that Anton is out of Operations (Stores) & Sanchia was on sick leave. We could take a break over December 2007, that was something that he could not do for the last 15 years whilst being in Ops. Anton has taken up the very challenging job in Financial Services and Credit as the Group Financial Services Business Manager, which he is enjoying so much we can't get him to stop talking about it. He just loves it so much.

It was so good to be off and actually enjoying Christmas Carols for a change, because when you work in stores and the Carols start on the 1 December 2007 you know it is Christmas madness starting in retail. So by the 24 Dec 2007 you really do not appreciate that it is the birth of Christ that we are celebrating.

We had one half of the Canham's over during the festive season - Mom, Dad, Amanda & Brendon. The Palmers also visited while the folks were here. We just ate, chatted, ate, chatted, ate, chatted, ate ....... & did a bit of sleeping. The togetherness were just very special.

Oh yes we opened some presents !
